If you love travelling and planning for a short tour to hills or want to visit some places of North East India then you can add Jampui hills on that list. I love nature from childhood. I still remember the day when with this emotion I with my aunt, brother and sister-in-law started a short trip to Jampui Hills, a real tourist paradise of North Tripura . Famously known as the ‘Eternal hills of Spring’ these hills offer a mind blowing view of the endless green valley. Here I will share my experince of Jampui Hills.

Day1
In early November we planned a trip to Jampui the highest hill range in Tripura bordering Mizoram. We started from Agartala which is about 200 KMs away from Jampui. We woke up early in the morning to catch train from Agartala station. By 11 am we reached to Kumarghat, had our breakfast and took a private car towards the hills. Kanchanpur is the nearest town in the plains. I took my camera to take snaps of the village nestled in a valley surrounded by green hills. As we were passing through the narrow way in the lap of the hills, we enjoy nature, peace and tranquility with lot of green surrounding area. The screne surroundings with lush green was a wonderful treat to eyes. By side of the roards there were lots of unknown trees, plants grown up in the bosom of nature without any care; most of them were orchids, myriad flora, fauna and wildflowers. Time runs very fast with the close proximity with nature. As the road slowly rolls down to the lush green forests and the majestic hills, we were greeted by sparkling streams and waterfalls meandering and flowing amidst the trees with the sounds of the water soothing our heart. At around 1:30 pm we reached Vanghmun Village. We booked two rooms in Eden Tourist Lodge of Tripura state tourism corporation in advance. From the entrance I took few shoots of the valley, Shadow of cloud on the ground …looked like a land of dreams.I entered my room at 1st floor, kept the luggage and stepped into the balcony. There was awesome view of the valley, view of tiny houses amid greenery.

The Peak
It was a sunny afternoon when we got in the car to reach the peak, Betlingchhip which is located at an altitude of 3,200ft .We were enjoying the view of lovely sunset from the dense forest .Behind the trees sun rays coming inside the car. The hill was covered by a canopy of dense forests where we can catch glimpses of the most exotic birds. But soon nature changed its form…. It was gloomy as we hiked our way through the jungle.Guess what…! We were inside the clouds…,just one very close to the ground instead of high in the sky. Nothing was clearly visible after a distance of 2-3 mts. The hills surrounded by clouds took us into a world of dreams ! I was looking to the Sunset through the glass windows of the car. I saw a golden ray somewhere in between the clouds.

After almost 1 hour our car stopped near a signboard saying ”Welcome to Mamit district of Mizoram” …it was the point when we decided to come back. In our way of return we saw a church and some innocent faces…. looked at us in surprise. Some kids were playing near the church. Peaceful life, far away from our everyday busy city life. But the struggle of life was more there. Adversity was everywhere, but accepting all that the mountain life there was free from all complaints…peaceful. A direct contact with the culture and lifestyle of these villagers would leave a lasting impression on mind. At around 7:30pm we reached at out lodge. Took dinner and went for a sleep as we planned our return on next day itself.
Though I was tired I woke up early in the morning to enjoy the Sunrise from the balcony. The view of rising Sun was a wonderful sight for the tourists. Neither the words can describe it in words nor the pictures are enough to give an overview. We were above the clouds and golden ray of morning Sun illuminated all around. It created a magnificent view when Sunrays fell on the white cloud…

Though we missed to attend the famous Orange festival but still we saw trees were laden with fruits. While returning I wished to visit Orange festival in future . The picturesque view of the green hills with sun shining down on them etched into our heart forever. At around 5 pm reached Kumarghat station to caught the train to Agartala.
